Sant Joan de Déu-Barcelona Children’s Hospital – Overview
Sant Joan de Déu-Barcelona Children’s Hospital is one of the leading medical centers in Europe for childhood and adolescence medicine and offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to health care from birth through 21 years of age.
As the pediatric center of the University of Barcelona, the hospital is associated with the Clinic Hospital, one of the international references for highly specialized hospital care, teaching and research.
The hospital is a private not-for-profit center. However, in Spain it is working mainly for the National Health System offering healthcare services through the public system.
Currently, the hospital is attending more than 25,000 inpatient admissions and 200,000 outpatient visits annually. The hospital performs more than 14,000 surgical procedures and is attending around 4,000 births per year.
Sant Joan de Déu-Barcelona Children’s Hospital and the The Clinic Hospital have been consistently awarded in the last 10 years as the center with better results in performance by the 20 TOP HOSPITALS in Spain, an independent and objective hospital evaluation program inspired by the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals in USA, based on quantitative quality and efficiency indicators.
